Februar - 15 Mai 2003: Exhibition "Gesichter Jesu
in China" at the ethnological museum "Haus Völker
und Kulturen", Arnold-Janssen-Str. 26, 53757 Sankt Augustin.
The
exhibition, jointly organized by the Monumenta Serica Institute and the
China-Zentrum e.V., presents Christian art in China, focusing on Chinese
presentations of Jesus Christ. These works of art on paper, silk,
batik, porcelain as well as paper cuts, photographs and stone rubbings
show the transformations of the Christ image from the first missionary
attempts of Nestorian Christianity in the 7th century to contemporary
China.
